A Poem For The Fallen. A Set Of Words For The Last Of This World.

As the sky turns down another evening, a mind breaks to the silence in the loud room. She is lost, the first soul of the night. The rust on their hands penetrates the air. The gears have ceased, there will be no more blood flowing tonight. Their sad faces mirror the mood as they carry the body out. It will not be the last. The pulse of all attending is gone. She will be missed. Farewell, the sky welcomes you back.

Vampire Sense Of Touch. How Subtle Is Their Light Hand?

A vampire always has a wonderful sense of touch. Their skin is smooth, the sensation is constantly accurate. The feeling of water cascading down the back of their hand is a timeless act. Each moment is a measure in their restraint. Each action is met with care and precision. The strength, the pressure in their fingers is overwhelming. To have one grace you is a treasured memory to hold.
Damage to a vampire doesn't affect their feeling of what is happening to them. a bullet in a vampire's flesh still hurts as much if it were in a human. The difference is that the vampire won't pass out from the pain. They simply learn to accept it as a part of life. A natural occurrence of their nightly incursions. There is no limit to the pain a vampire can endure other than death itself. Vampires do not enjoy sharing this fact. The younger ones feel it is an embarrassment. The older vampires consider it a mark of age to withstand higher levels of torture and destruction.
A vampeal in sharp contrast feels the first cut of damage very well. After that, their autonomic anesthetic kicks in (the body's own pain killers). At which point, the area is partially numb. It does not return until the damage has been repaired.
A demon vampire is more special still. They know pain, but are able to ignore it with little effort. Their sheer power eliminates the need for a lightening of damage. Their skin is beyond steel, it is perfect.

Advice To An Over Worked Writer. May They Heed This Call And Continue Their Vampire Chronicle.

Life easily gets in the way of the things we all enjoy. Sometimes the other activities we enjoy go forth and poke their heads over the rest as well. However the parts of our lives that need addressing, that have to be dealt with are constantly there. Taking time to settle each matter is a luxury most days, probably a chore others.
On occasion, I take three hours to shut the world out around me. I turn off the phone, draw the black out curtains closed in my den where I write, and turn on a small string of tiny lights to illuminate the room in a way that is steady and constant. Inside that room, there is not time. I do not look at the clock. I do not set an alarm. If the three hours passes and I go over, so be it. In that space I contend with my thoughts. I deal with the issues that plague me and attempt to work on my passions with as much focus and concentration as possible.
Having a place, a sacred avenue near to you is crucial. Remember that you may always think you have time to do something. To see a play, to call an old friend, to finish a chapter that is troubling you. But know that there is a set number to the summers one will experience in life. There are only a hundred, if one manages to live that long. Make each count, you are the only one keeping score.

Advice to Amanda Hocking from Virgil Allen Moore.

The Right Amount of Blood For A Vampire. How Many Pints Is Just Right?

How much blood would a vampire drink if a vampire could drink forever? The answer is in the question. Forever. A vampire could drink endlessly. But just then what is the right amount? How much blood is the perfect daily volume? It depends on the vampire. The age, the gift, the preference, and the strain. A new vampire requires two pints of blood. After a few years a vampire's need reduces. One pint nightly will suffice. After one hundred years the requirement is only one pint every two to three days. At two hundred years, One pint a week sates the vampire. Beyond three hundred years, a vampire requires a pint a month. at five hundred plus years, the vampire only needs a pint a year to survive.
A vampire's gift also adds to their need for blood. A focus vampire needs the least amount of blood. A psychic vampire needs an increased volume of blood. An alteration vampire requires the most blood. Each type needs more blood as they use their gift more.
A vampeal varies in their needs. If they want to have increased power and strength, they need one gallon of blood a day. Two gallons if they want to remain the same age. If they choose to abstain, they require nearly nothing. A pint a week sustains them, or a few rare steaks.
A demon vampire needs two pints of blood a day, always. The more blood, the quicker their power grows. Once they reach 300,000 bodies' worth of blood, their higher gift becomes available. Allowing them to enact massive damage on the population.

Do Vampires Really Hiss And Growl When Exposed To Blood?

Is there really such a thing as a feral vampire? Do vampires really hiss and growl when exposed to blood? Hell no they don't! Not real vampires. The idea of a vampire killing without control is false. A vampire has strength, dexterity, poise, and amazing focus. A vampire would have to themselves go hungry for more than a week in order to fall into a cycle of blood lust. That simply doesn't happen. The need to devour blood takes over the body only once after the change has completed. And then merely a way of showing the vampire that blood tastes good. The concept of letting yourself get to a point where you want to feed on everyone around you is like a fat man starving themselves to death with no food over the course of a week. Far before the week is up, the person would give in by choice and feed.

Just a little. I Promise It Won't Hurt... Much.

Has your friend been staring at your neck lately? Have they been watching the way you walk down the hall? Paying a little too much attention to your skin?
Having a vampire as a room-mate can be a dangerous ordeal if they're not upfront about it. If you suspect your friend is a vampire, be honest about your feelings. Tell them you don't like the idea of being their late night meal. And if you enjoy the thought, let them know as well. It could start a new level of your friendship. However, don't offend. Some people don't want to expose the fact they are vampires, or blood drinking for that matter. If they say 'no' and you still think they are, don't push it. Be respectful.

Do Vampire Red Heads Get More Blood? Of Course They Do.

Do red head vampires get more blood than other vampires with different hair colors? Simply put, Yes.
Why? All vampire enjoy blood, the taste, the feeling, the color. It's not a matter of biology, it's a matter of sexuality. A willing participant giving blood to a vampire is naturally has an attraction towards them. A person that enjoys being bled automatically has a preference towards the color red. A vampire with red hair has an edge over other vampire when it comes to consensual blood letting.
It also works both ways. A human with red hair in a relationship with a vampire will be bitten more often than one who is not. Something to think about when considering your next partner.

How To Kill A Vampire. Wooden Stakes And Crosses Just Don't Do It Anymore.

In the olden times, there was talk of priests with wooden stakes and holy crosses defeating vampires on their own ground. Bullshit. A stake is no more irritating to a vampire than it is a human. A splinter is a splinter no matter who you are. The difference is that a vampire regenerates from it quickly, a human does not. A holy cross is about as effective converting blasphemous hell bent atheists as it is wounding someone. A vampire will laugh at you if you threaten them with a cross. They might even show you theirs. Some vampires enjoy the comfort that faith brings.
To kill a vampire is a difficult task. Silver does work, but it only inhibits a vampire's physical abilities. Regeneration, speed, strength, all of this is slowed by the amount of silver that gets introduced into a vampire's blood stream. A knife, a sword, a momentary cut to the skin can only affect a vampire slightly. liquid silver if ingested, as per a drink, could do some damage. reverting them to a weakened state could make them less able to fend off a large human attacker. However if someone could inject liquid silver into a vampire's blood, it would make them sick. reducing them to near death in a matter of minutes. Since they have a hyper metabolism and an increased heart rate, they are affected quickly.
All and all, the moral is, don't try to kill a vampire. It's not nice to kill people no matter who they are. So don't.

The Vampire's Embrace. Amazing, Sensual, Breath-Taking. Three Days Of Hell On Earth.

The vampire's embrace. Between the 106.3 to 109.8 degree fever, chills, hallucinations, body aches, general pains, and over-all inability to function, the turning is not a walk in the park. Becoming a vampire is not fun. If you are alive when the virus is introduced into your system, the first day you are crippled with a high fever. the second day, your develops burns with exposure to sunlight. The third day, your eyes change so that the entire pupil except for the black center is a transparaent color. What that shade is depends on how the virus reacts to your blood type. By the fourth night, you are weak and hungry for blood. So much so that you attack anyone or anything near you.
If you have the pleasure of dying before the virus gets you, consider yourself lucky depending on your circumstances. It still takes three grueling days, but you're dead for most of it. And therefor you don't feel nearly any of it. On the second day you wake up. You don't have much motor control, but you're alive. As for what happens to you on your third day, that weighs on how you became dead in the first place and where you physically are at the moment. If you died at night in a field and some vampire blood splashed in your mouth. By the time you are conscious of what's going on, you're already on fire in the mid-day sun. Not a good place to be. However, if you managed to die in a secluded cave in the middle of nowhere with the virus in your blood stream, the forth day comes and all you do is chow down on a brown bear in the area.
Now if you are being turned to save your life from a mortal wound, you're in for some pain. First the virus has to take you over, that means a fever. Since you had existing injuries, it has to repair them fast to keep you alive. That means pain, lots of agony at the site of damage. Once the wound is closed, you experience all the same stages as if you were alive. The only drawback being is that the over-whelming hunger for blood comes at the end of the third night, not the fourth.
Hope this clears things up for you. Keep reading, follow, subscribe, and comment.

Vampires And Tattoos. Why It Is Important To Choose Carefully.

Vampires do get inked. Don't misunderstand. They just do it for different reasons than the rest of us. One might get a tattoo for the design, the message, or the placement. A vampire gets a tattoo to show they've earned something, to remember someone, or to display status. A human often dies in less than a century, a vampire does not. The actual look, position, and reasons for a tattoo to a vampire have to be well thought out. Some vampire might choose not to ever get a tattoo at all, whiles others cover their bodies showing that they have no regrets. It is a deeply personal choice for humans and vampires. All that matters is living with it.

This is Why There Is No Such Thinkg As A Vampire Witch.

This is why two very different genres like fantasy and paranormal should never mix. The moment you say that the average human is capable of witch-craft and at the same time let the reader know that there are vampires in your world, it disassociates the power away from vampires. That's good if you really like witches and magic, but if you enjoy vampires, the effect is detrimental.
Once a storyline has been set up, a reader (or viewer for that matter), should only be tasked with accepting the changes in the plot. To have the world around the characters change is a sign that the writer did not plan ahead to include the change in the original design of the story. Never alienate your readers.

Vampire Slaves. There Are Not As Many As You Might Think.

Some people may think that there is a need for vampires to have slaves for blood. This is simply not true. Although it does come down to personal preference. The ability to have a steady blood supply is a valued commodity, but at the price of taking care of your servant. An employed blood slave would more than likely be willing than not. A human would be well taken care of by a vampire, allowing them to live a full and healthy life. Given that a vampire would naturally want to have the well being of nutrition put into the blood diet of the human. So goes the need of a blood servant.

The Sad Idea That A Little Blond Girl Could Fight Vampires.

The concept that a little blond human girl could actually fight on the same level as even a common vampire is sad. Vampires have speed which is unparalleled to us. A group of highly trained people could take one down, but only if they knew how to expect the future actions of the individual.
However the premise that a small group could fight and kill a vampeal is acceptable. A vampeal has about a quarter of the strength and speed of a vampire. With training, the distance can be closed. The anticipation of one's actions can be learned and can eventually counter raw strength and speed.
Sorry, Buffy, It's just not in the cards.

The Days When Vampires Were Vampires Is Coming Again.

There are few vampire characters that compare to the presence of the vampire Lestat. Anne Rice did a wonderful job of painting him as a beautifully torn mind. Time, power, and eternal loneliness helped to shape this icon. Today, we have vampires that sparkle, inbred southern public night-stalkers, and teenage vamp-angst. It's sad that there hasn't really been a good vampire story since Rice's glory days. The Underworld series did have a hit for a while, but ended up losing fans with it's third installment.
With the addition of new blood, Amanda Hocking's My Blood Approves books does have promise. It is my hope that soon, in the coming year, I will be among the names mentioned in the recent vampire revolution.

Let The Right One In. A Swedish Vampire Movie.

Let The Right One In is a Swedish vampire movie in which a ten year old boy is bullied by kids at school and on day finds himself talking to a twelve year old vampire girl. Over time, the vampire drops hints of what she is to the little boy. She offers to help him. They get closer and her original human servant ends up dead. She then asks the boy's help. He agrees and they form a friendship. Other things happen as well, but they would spoil the story for the average viewer. All that needs to be said is that by the end of the film you will cheer for the blood-lust of this little twelve year old girl. Proof that vampires can never be too young.

The Myth Of Vampires And Coffins. They Don't Need Them.

There has been a long standing myth that vampires rest in a coffin during the day. This is not true. Coffins are a tool of an era long past. They are no longer needed. In the older times, coffins were used as a distraction to deter people from finding them. 'Why check a dead body?' was the phrase. Now people know that nifty trick. Now coffins have made way to triple locked titanium bank vaults purchased for easy havens.

The History Of The Elder Vampires. Eight Thousand Years of Heritage. Part One

Eight thousand years ago, twelve original vampires were born nearly perfect. They had the abilities of strength, regeneration, and an immunity to sunlight. However they did not consider themselves to be perfect. They could still die. After several years hundreds of years, with the proliferation of mankind, they decided to sire new vampires. Those new vampires led to the creation of thousands more. The elders waited. Eventually, with many vampires throughout the old world, the elders descended. They forged a plan to gain complete and true immortality. The years of life bred hostility between them.
Two thousand years later, the elders held a contest. The prize, ascension to their ranks. The goal being a way to achieve total regeneration from all levels of death. The call was for the best of each type of vampire to assemble. More than four hundred alteration vampires answered. A little over seventy focus vampires came to test themselves. Finally, only three psychic vampires arrived.
The elders proceeded with their selection. They devised a way to choose only seven of the almost five hundred that applied.

Is is in your best interest to be honest. With yourself, with others, with lovers. It is in your best graces to be kind. With others, with lovers, and to yourself. It is in your best health to be mindful. With lovers, with yourself, and especially with others. For it is the cautious that bury the anxious. Remember, and be happy. For today your name is not on my list. You have done nothing wrong. You will not be punished. Remember my words, be honest, be kind, be mindful. Above all, don't do any thing rash to warrant my list.
