Check Lists Are A Pain

And Twenty Trips To The Car Sucks.

All of you that are Photography Majors, I laud you.

For those of you that aren't, like myself, let me explain.

Five lights that could nearly blind someone just by themselves, stands-a-plenty, and more little things that I can easily count. All of these things are what I am having to haul to the photo shoot tomorrow.

The time has come for the photo shoot that will replace the current cover of the book if all goes well. I am setting everything up for the last push in the next 24 hours. Every detail has to be taken into account. Every color of nail polish for each outfit, everything from shoe polish to added flashlights for shadow effects - each thing has to be remembered and packed. It's both overwhelming and exciting.

The event I have been planning for the last two months has finally come. Tomorrow, I will shoot over 2000 pictures and in the end, I should have somewhere near a hundred usable photos to show for it. These images will be in the book, used in ads, on the site, and even in promotional items.

Wish me luck.

Sincerely,

Virgil Allen Moore

The Difficulty Of A Simple Thing

As of last week, everything was set for the photo shoot. As of this weekend, murder is an option.

To Curse And By Chance To Smite;)

To explain, let me begin with where I had initially set the location for this shoot. I had asked a friend of the family if they would be gracious enough to let me use their amazing living room as the backdrop for my covers and beautiful model. Everyone agreed that it would be a bit of a strain using the place for a few hours, but that it would be okay. That my dear readers, was a month ago.

As of a few days ago, the story changed, and not in my favor. Complications came up and the one and only day that I had asked about, and had cleared with two others to make absolutely sure every one had advanced notice to form their schedules, was suddenly taken from me.

Initially murder was the guttural feeling that swelled in my abdomen. Sensations of pain followed immediately after the news. And before I knew it, a deep sadness crept into my mind, telling me that this shoot and my subsequent covers were doomed after all the effort I had put into them.

Thankfully after a minute or two my feelings of homicide departed and I was left with a choice. I could either stop now and lose all the time, money, and planning I had placed into this event - Or I could suck it up like the persistent bastard that I am and move forward with the project.

There are no amount of expletives that can truly explain the depths of which the vindicating spirit rose from within me. How dare I be denied! So I formed a myriad of plans. Antique shops to photo studios, all ideas swirled about me in my rage to find a new location. In the end, it was my dear wife that lead me to the solution - A deluxe penthouse suite at a northern hotel. An elegant solution that had rather unique benefits that I had not considered.

My original location had a time constraint of a few hours. The suite did not. It was something that started my mind on another inviting topic, more photography. It has been a while since I have last presented my face on the site and in general to the public. This opportunity is one I am unable to pass on. After the shoot, I will craft new author photographs for the blog and the books to come, an added benefit indeed.

So therefore in the end and to all it may concern on this behalf, hiccups be damned, the show WILL go on!!!;)

Sincerely,

The Meeting Went Well

My model now has clothes!

...To wear for the cover shoot.

I met with the model for the shoot today. Although I am not willing to show you a picture of her as of yet, believe me, you will all enjoy the look-a-like I have found for the role of Kyli.

Today, she saved me the cost of a dress and even turned me onto going to a different store for the shirt and skirt I was looking into.
These are the two styles of outfits that the shoot will focus on. They may seem simple in the drawing, but the reality of it will be very pleasing.

These are a few cover ideas. A few of them are possible cover shots, but in the end, time will tell what gets used and what only gets put on the site.

These are a few more cover ideas. The arm and knife will be the cover for Bloodlines.

The hand writing will be the cover for SSR 1192.

The open hand is just an idea that I've been playing around with.

This is a possible cover shot for the re-release of Demon Vampire.

All and all, I was able to go over the set up of the shoot. The order of make up, the shots, and the changing of clothing. We made a lot of headway and worked out a few needed things. I can't wait to do the shoot on April 19h.

Meeting With My Model Today

Today is the day I do the one thing that even I dread doing as an author... buying new clothes.

And they aren't even for me:(

I will be meeting the model for the cover shoot today and searching out the articles of clothing that will fit into the realm of Kyli Waterfield's style. This should be a relatively easy task, but at the same time, neither of us will have had much sleep. I know that I got around four and a half hours and I don't think that she will be getting much more than five.

The good news: we can both operate on will power and coffee.

I'll let you all know how it goes with an additional post later tonight. As well as some character sketches of the covers that I personally drew. It won't be anything too detailed. There is a reason why I am a writer and not a dedicated artist;)
