I want to tell you a little story about my first D&D character

When I was sixteen, I had been transferred to my second high school and ended up talking with a group of kids that liked to play Magic. About a month into knowing them, one of them showed me a new book they had been reading; Dungeons and Dragons 3.0. At this point, I had never heard of pen and paper role-playing games at all. So I asked about it, and we all decided to start a game. He let me borrow the book, I read a good amount of it, and I made a character. First time ever, a gnome wizard with an owl familiar and a dagger. All black clothing (I was sixteen), and white hair ( I played a lot of Final Fantasy 7), and he was four foot tall (the DM was slack on the personal non-game details).

The first session the DM told us we were in a medium sized town and asked us where we were and what we planned to do. I told him I was in the town square meditating near the well. He told me there was no town square. So I asked to go to the market. He said there was no market. I was a little confused as to why a medium sized town wouldn't have either, but I went with it. I then asked if they had a weapons shop. He finally said yes, and I started walking to the shop. It was early morning, and the DM went to the other players, asking what they wanted to do. My turn came around again. I arrived at the weapons shop to find a very large creature sleeping on a heavy display case. This is about a week from the first time I picked up the book and about ten minutes into my first session ever. So what did I do as a level one wizard? I cast sleep on the half-orc creature that happened to be the shop owner. The DM looked at me with confusion. His longtime friend turned to him with an oh god. It dawns on the DM what I am about to do as I immediately walk into the back of the shop and start opening the crates and taking everything I can into my backpack. I get several rounds of stealing in before I simply walk out. The DM informs me that I get about two blocks down the street when I hear screaming coming from the direction of the weapons shop.

On the third turn of the session, I met up with the rest of the party members, and they decided to go to the weapons shop. I said nothing in character. When we got there, there were two hulking guards and the half-orc staring down all of my party members, except me, the lowly wizard gnome.

I hope you enjoyed this little story. If you did, comment and let me know, I have almost twenty years of these stories and I'm more than willing the write about them or possibly do a video on them.

What I've Been Up To

A great many things have happened lately. Things that have taxed my resolve momentarily to exciting responses to my inquiries that have revitalized the faith I hold in my will.

I have resisted the urge to pass on this negativity or other wise transfer it in any way to my following public beyond a simple mention. Besides that, my continued efforts have proven quite fruitful. I have written two more short stories that only need to be edited and then released. They will be testaments to the skill I have honed through these past months as a writer.

Neither short story is related to vampires however. They are pure creations delving into an experimental nature that I have spent far too long ignoring - General Fiction. At with one of them. The other is a surreal journey that has to be read to be understood. "Diffinity" is a path that has to be uncovered and deciphered rather than merely viewed. I believe I will spark a vast collection of hate mail through the symbolism intertwined with this installment of the blog. Regardless, it will be enjoyed by some and that I have learned is worth all the chatter in the world.

As to the other story, I haven't named it yet, or rather I haven't decided on a final title. The working name is "Seven Hours." It is about two young people and their insecurities that are shared over the course of one stranded night alone together. Although the main 'seven hour' referred to in the title contain no sex, there are of course sexual themes and romantic tones running through the tale. The content covers the hidden idiosyncrasies of a young high school senior boy (the 16 year old protagonist), and a popular senior girl (The romantic interest at 18 years old) on their final trip before the last week of school.

The two stories should be released on the blog in the next month or so.

Short Stories

To those that have enjoyed my style, but not my content, This is for you.

I have recently been going through my old story ideas. A large folder with over 16 different novel concepts that I came up with over the course of around 17 years of writing. Things that at the time I didn't value with much credit as they were half thought out plans for books that didn't have any real impact on the reader. Years later however, I now see the holes in those ramblings and an aiming to fill them. Although I will still be continuing work on Demon Vampire: Redgold, I am announcing that as of this week I will be pumping out short stories based on those initial concepts. Some of them will be posted on Kindle to download for $0.99 and the rest will be up here on the blog, completely free to read and share. I should be able to put out out a month and keep this pace through the year.

In the mean time, as I am finishing the second half of my first short story outside the vampire world. Yes, all of the mentioned stories to be released each month will be non-vampire related to build and display my words in another setting to which I and you have not seen before.

It is called Diffinity. It is the story of the a man and his search to understand what has happened to him. It promises to be a truly gripping story and well worth the $0.99 download via Kindle.

Make sure to note this story will be out by late March, just a few weeks after my Birthday.
